Guillaume Apollinaire!
Hi! And nice Saturday!A few days ago, I was in the library and one book caught my eye - it was in the French section, and it is Le Bestiaire ou Le Cortège d'Orphée by Guillaume Apollinaire. I have never heard of this author, but since I am interested in the French language, I decided to borrow it.
And who was Guillaume Apollinaire?
He was a French poet, novelist, short story writer. He was born in Rome and adopted the name he is now known for, when he emigrated to France.
This book was written in 1911. It is a poetic album of 30 short poems.
Bestiaire comes from the Ancient world, illustrated, describing various animals, birds, even rocks.

Here is one poem I really liked!
LE CHAT
JE souhaite dans ma maison:
Une femme ayant sa raison,
Un chat passant parmi les livres,
Des amis en toute saison
Sans lesquels je ne peux pas vivre.
Do you like the French language? What do you think of this book?

I've never learned French actually. I did watch a lot of Helene and the guys (Hélène et les garçons) when I was younger on TV.

Such a vintage find for you. Poems always captivate my attention, but don't understand French.
