Italy 3. - Rome!

Hi! Please, excuse us for a week without posts. We have been to Prague and forgot our laptop. :( Today here is another Italy post - about Rome!

Rome (Roma) is the capital city of Italy. Founded around 753 BC. Its early population originated from a mix of Latins, Etruscans and Sabines.

Trinità dei Monti. A Roman Catholic church, above the Spanish steps.

Piazza di Spagna. And designer brands such as Dior, Chanel etc. It is a famous square in Rome. It is at the bottom of the Spanish Steps.

Spanish Steps. Monumental stairway of 135 steps, built by a french diplomat Étienne Gueffier. And do you know this film with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck - Roman Holiday (1953)? It was filmed in Rome and in those pictures, they are on the Spanish Steps! With Trinità dei Monti in the background!

Fontana di Trevi. A fountain in the Trevi district. Designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi. It is a shame I did not see it at night :(

Do you know what is this building? I cannot find it :(

Piazza Venezia. The central hub of Rome.

Musei Capitolini. In Piazza del Campidoglio, on top of the Capitoline Hill. Treasures of the antique Rome are here! :
 Capitalian wolf (Lupa Capitolina). Romulus and Remus, the twins rescued by a she-wolf Faustulus!

 Circus Maximus (Roman Forum). An ancient Roman chariot racing stadium. Built in Old Kingdom era.

Arco di Costantino. A triumphal arch situated between the Colosseum and the Pallatine Hill.

Colosseum. An oval amphiteatre. Built of concrete and sand. Built in 70-80 AD!
And with Carol at the fence of Colosseum :)


...and here we were heading to Vatican! So,
