One day in Dresden!

Good afternoon!
Today I will tell you about our one-day trip to Dresden. Dresden is the capital city of Saxony in Germany. It's situated on the River Elbe. The city's got a long history. In World War II, it was bombed by Britishes and Americans and that killed over 25 000 people and destroyed the city centre. It was then reconstructed. Here's an old picture of the city after the bombing...

And now our photos!
...a beautiful park with a lake on the "Am Zwingerteich" street. You can see Zwinger in the backround. It's located in Altstadt.

 ...near Semperoper!

...a Johann statue on Theaterplatz.

...posters in Semperoper and a street in Altstadt.

...very close to Altmarkt, a square in Altstadt, where the Dresdner Striezelmarkt takes place every year. Dresdner Striezelmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. It's an event that takes place since 1434. This year's Striezelmarkt we visited was the 581st already!

...Julius Otto Memorial.

...Centrum Galerie on Trompeterstraße. A three-storeyed shopping centre with shops like Primark, Bershka, Adidas Original Store, Karstadt sports and countless more! There are also many restaurants and Starbucks.

...beautiful large streets in Centrum Galerie.

...another streets of Centrum Galerie and a tram by Karstadt.

...again around Centrum Galerie.

...and here is Striezelmarkt!

...near Kreuzkirche. The church isn't on the photos, but anyways it's the largest church building in Saxony. It's a Lutheran church and it's also a home to the Dresdner Kreuzchor (a boy's choir).

...and here comes the last 2 photos! Sweets from Striezelmarkt and Starbucks Coffee in Centrum Galerie.

I hope you liked this article and maybe found it useful! Dresden is a truly beautiful city with a special atmosphere. We hope to return there with Carol this time in summer!
